Costa Brava

A Costa Brava Road Trip With Kids

Sylvia Santamaria-Downey · 4 August 2026 · 8 min read

Five days, six villages and the route we would drive again tomorrow.

The Costa Brava is a long drive from our home coast, so we made a proper trip of it. Five nights, one base, short drives each day.

The route

  • Day 1 — Tossa de Mar: walk the Vila Vella walls, swim off Platja Gran
  • Day 2 — Palamós: the fishing museum, then La Fosca for the afternoon
  • Day 3 — Calella de Palafrugell to Llafranc on the Camí de Ronda
  • Day 4 — Begur castle and cove-hopping to Aiguablava and Sa Tuna
  • Day 5 — Pals village in the morning, Platja de Pals all afternoon

What we would change

Book cove parking early or go before ten — we lost an hour twice. And stay somewhere central like Palafrugell rather than moving hotels; the villages are close enough that one base covers everything.
