Our Favourite Family Days Out After Six Months

Sylvia Santamaria-Downey · 23 June 2026 · 6 min read

The eight days out we have already repeated, all within an hour of home.

A day out only counts if we have done it twice. These all have.

  • The ferry from Santa Pola to Tabarca island — snorkels essential
  • Flamingos at the Santa Pola salt flats, then chips at the port
  • The pink lake at Torrevieja an hour before sunset
  • Guardamar's pine forest for shade, playgrounds and a picnic
  • Santa Bárbara castle in Alicante, up in the lift and down on foot
  • Aqualandia in Benidorm, first thing, before the queues
  • Bikes from Punta Prima to Cabo Roig with churros at the far end
  • Saturday market at Playa Flamenca, breakfast first

Most of these cost very little, and half of them cost nothing at all beyond the petrol.
